Printing
today printing attempts are as shown. the reverse i created of the image was very good and i thought it was going to make a brilliant print that i could use for my front cover of my rhythems piece.
But as you can see my final result did not come out as well as i had hoped. this i down to a mixture of not a strong enough color and using black paper, i will revisit my print and make it better in the near future.
The Tate Modern

Thursday 11th March
I went to the tate modern to look for inspiration for my final piece.Picasso's work inspired me with his use of colour, this has made me think about how i may want to use a similar colouring technique in my final piece, i also was highly inspired by the way he uses gestural brush strokes, unlike most painters he uses large amount of paint and fairly large strokes, i really like this style of working.

Another artist t
hat i have liked for sometime cropped up as i was walking through the galleries.
Anish Kapoor, who's work i also saw whilst on my london trip in the royal academy, has a brilliant way of creating complex mirrored surfaces. when i view these pieces i do no look at them and think " that's a style i would like to try out" i think, "that would make a brilliant way of displaying a piece of artwork", i would very much like to use Anish Kapoors style of reflection to display my artwork. This is a piece of work which caught my eye, it took a while for me to work out why and then i realised i had seen the piece of work before and he freeze art festival. i like the simpliciy of this piece and the use of text that has been integatd in to it.
Source Idea
For my interpretation of the brief of rhythms and cycles i would like to look in to sound and in particular music and how it is different all over the world. i am particularly interested in this because its is interesting how in africa music is very native and played on traditional instruments and is often associated with spirits and worship, where as in britain music is very controlled and massively edited, we confine in to our headphones and personal homes, we use electronic instruments and music is made usually for money. I am hoping to make a piece that contrasts this.
Reworked Source Idea
People take their senses for granted and when asked, 6 out of 7 people said that there sight was there most important sense. I beg to differ and that in fact hearing is the most important, and that we rely on hearing for more that we actually give credit for. i considered the idea of making a piece of art that incorporated the loss of sound, but this drew me to a close as i wanted there the use of sound to be shown as taken for granted so i am going to make a piece of work that uses sounds that are wrong or reversed.
